You can enrol on any of the following TEFL courses: Online Level 3 TEFL Certificate, Online Level 5 TEFL Diploma or Combined Level 5 TEFL Diploma, depending on how you intend to use your TEFL qualification. So, which option from our TEFL courses is right for you?
Our Level 3 TEFL certificate course will introduce you to TEFL (teaching English as a foreign language). It is an online-only course and leads to a 120hr TEFL certificate. It is the best option if you want to find casual work teaching English, such as volunteer teaching, teaching whilst backpacking, plus some online roles.
Our Level 5 TEFL diploma course goes into more detail. It can be studied online and leads to a 168hr TEFL diploma. A Level 5 TEFL course is the best option if you want to find formal work teaching English, such as the contracted roles from our TEFL Jobs Board, or government teaching programmes, which usually include accommodation, flight reimbursement and help to get your work visa.

Our TEFL internships are open to anyone who has enrolled on our Level 3 or Level 5 courses and meets the requirements listed for each opportunity. An internship is the ideal way to kick-start your TEFL career whilst receiving a higher level of support than standard TEFL jobs. They are a good way to bridge the gap between qualifying and starting a more formal teaching role.
Our voluntary TEFL positions are a great way to get started with TEFL, helping you to gain valuable experience whilst helping others and receiving additional support. They are open to anyone who has enrolled on our Level 3 or Level 5 courses and meets the requirements listed for each opportunity. A TEFL course from The TEFL Academy costs between €350 and €900. Bear in mind, you don’t want to do the cheapest TEFL course you can find. A TEFL course is an investment in yourself and your future - don’t sell yourself short. Depending what you want to do with your TEFL certificate, either a Level 3 or a Level 5 TEFL qualification may be suitable. If you are interested in short-term, informal teaching posts such as volunteering or working on a summer camp, a Level 3 TEFL qualification is all you need. For more long-term, formal and better-paid teaching posts, you will need an online-only Level 5 TEFL qualification. What is always important is the quality of the TEFL course you do and the accreditation and reputation of the TEFL course provider.
To judge the quality of a TEFL course, we need to look at the content of the course, the accreditation of the TEFL course provider, the calibre of its tutors, and its reputation. The TEFL Academy is regulated by Ofqual and our courses are awarded by Qualifi. Our TEFL courses are approved by the DEAC. We are consistently rated highly by our alumni. We have won multiple awards for Top TEFL Course for not just one year, but three consecutive years. Our tutors are qualified, experienced TEFL teachers. We have over 200,000 graduates in teaching positions all over the world. We have placed more than 15,000 teaching volunteers and interns.
Without a doubt! A TEFL course is a flexible way to earn money and live the life you want to. With a TEFL course under your belt, you can teach English and live wherever you want - be it in your home country or abroad. What’s more, a TEFL certificate is needed for any formal teaching positions. On a personal level, a TEFL course will prepare you to teach in the classroom, even if you have no teaching experience.
The most internationally recognised online TEFL courses lead to a Level 5 qualification, which is the same level as the CELTA/Trinity CertTESOL. The minimum entry requirement for most well-paid jobs, with the best packages, is a Level 5 TEFL qualification. The online Level 5 version of our TEFL course leads to a Level 5 TEFL Diploma (168 hours). It's regulated by Ofqual (UK government department) and awarded by Qualifi, a UK government-recognised awarding body. A TEFL Diploma is simply a slightly higher level of qualification than a Certificate. It will help your CV/resume stand out against other applicants for TEFL jobs. Our Diploma is the highest Level 5 Diploma available, so courses advertised as an Advanced Diploma are equal to our qualification. If you are looking for an introduction to TEFL and plan to look for casual work teaching English, such as volunteering, teaching whilst backpacking and some online teaching roles, then we recommend you choose a Level 3 online TEFL course. The Level 3 version of our course leads to a Level 3 TEFL Certificate (120hrs).
The TEFL Academy’s online TEFL course is totally legitimate. Our course is regulated by Ofqual (UK government department) and awarded by Qualifi, a UK government-recognised awarding body. Our Level 5 TEFL Course is DEAC-approved as meeting the criteria for Approved Quality Curriculum (AQC) status. The DEAC is a US Department of Education National Accreditor.
Online TEFL courses work the same as other online courses. Your course is made up of a number of different units. Throughout the course you will need to complete and pass a number of different tests and assignments. If you have any difficulty during the course, you can reach out to one of our qualified tutors who will be able to provide feedback and answer any questions.
The Level 3 and Level 5 versions of our TEFL course lead to accredited qualifications awarded by Qualifi (a UK-government-recognised awarding body), and are regulated by Ofqual (UK-government department). The Level 3 and Level 5 versions of our TEFL course are also DEAC (US Department of Education-recognised) approved as meeting the criteria for Approved Quality Curriculum (AQC) status. AQC is a quality assurance scheme that guarantees our courses have been peer-reviewed and meet strict standards and requirements (AQC status is separate from accreditation, the qualifications are accredited in the UK and are recognised internationally, including in the US).
Yes, we do! The TEFL Academy offers:

Yes, it is possible to fail the online tests and the coursework assignments on our online courses. However, if you fail a test, you can see which answers you got wrong, revise the unit and take it again as many times as you need to pass it. If you do not pass a submitted assignment you will receive very clear feedback on what you need to do to pass, and be given the opportunity to resubmit. You can make up to three submissions for each assignment. If you fail your assignments we will provide you with a full refund. Over 90% of our students pass their course.
